Postdoc Opening

A postdoc position on "Emergence and out-of-equilibrium phenomena in frustrated magnets" is available in my group. The position is for two years with funding available to extend to a third year. Possible research topics include out of equilibrium properties of spin ice materials and other pyrochlore oxides; quantum spin ice and quantum spin liquids; interplay of itinerant electrons and localised magnetic moments (e.g., iridate-inspired).
For further information and in order to apply for the position, please visit www.jobs.cam.ac.uk/job/1355

Research Interests

I am generally interested in emergent and out of equilibrium phenomena in many body systems, spanning the Classical Statistical Mechanics and the Collective Quantum Phenomena groups. My research topics include:
  • the effect of hard constraints in classical and quantum systems (dimer, vertex, and colouring models)
  • the role of kinematic constraints, out of equilibrium phenomena, freezing and glassiness
  • frustrated magnetism
  • entanglement, topological order, quantum information and quantum computing
