Robinson MCR Poker Society

Home and Introduction

Welcome to the home of the Robinson MCR Poker Society

News Flash:
Robinson Poker dominates the Oxford cup with Olly 'the Hunger' Alan and Steve 'Nice Guy' Thompson finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively,(the field was approximately 150 and the prize pool £2000) Photos.

The Robinson College Graduate Playing Society was founded in the summer of 2002 in order to formalise and legitimise the regular games of card players in the MCR. We are a small group who meet at least once a week, usually to play poker. There is also a University card playing society who we interact with. They meet on a Thursday and usually play for higher stakes; you can find them here.

Where/When/What We Play

Where: We usually play our games in Robinson College MCR.

When: We try to play once a weekly, on Tuesday evenings, starting at 9pm finishing around midnight or so.

What: We play Texas Hold'Em. Rules of this game can be found here, and for hand rankings look here.

We start off playing a pot limit cash game which lasts for a few hours, then to wrap up the night we play a nolimit tournament with rebuys.

Structure: Cash Game
The cash games we play are the following:
Limit- Small Blind is 5p, Big Blind 10p. Bets up to 20p till the turn, then 40p on the turn and river.
Pot Limit- 5p Small and Big blinds

Tournament
The tournament buy in is decided before starting, its usually £2 or less. Action is no-limit, players knocked out may rebuy for original amount during the first hour of play. When this time passes, the tournament is freezeout, three prizes usually awarded, third place usually gets entry fee back, first gets roughly 50% of pot, second place gets the remainder.
