Ark Christian Music and Drama

What is Ark?

Ark is the society formerly known as C20. They are a group of Christians in Cambridge who are keen to use music and drama to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I was a member of Ark from 1992-2005.

Well I can only speak of when I was in Ark, but we used to go to schools, youth groups, college CU's, army barracks, Sunday Schools and churches. I know the Society has performed in prisons before as well. We have also done street drama and been on local radio. We liven up assemblies, lead drama and music workshops, take CU meetings, illustrate sermons, and generally seek to preach, teach, and tell everyone about Jesus Christ. We also wrote three Murder Mysteries, which we performed at dozens of evangelistic events in Cambridge.

Can I be involved?

Yes! The emphasis is generally on enthusiasm rather than talent, and there aren't any auditions - everyone is welcome. This is especially true of the drama which all the Ark members are encouraged to participate in. Ark also write their own sketches and songs.

On the music side, Ark currently has only one band Sixth Hour, who play indie/rock music. Sixth Hour have two demo CDs, which are available upon request. If you're interested in booking the band, please email Sixth_hour@intensity.org.uk. In the past Ark have had several bands playing music ranging from rock to acid-jazz/funk to folk music.

If you'd like to get involved then please email or write to one of the committee. You should find their contact details on the the official Ark home page, but if you have any problems feel free to drop me an email and I'll see whether I can track the right contact details down.
