Professor Sir Sam Edwards - materials for Biographical Memoir

The Royal Society has asked me to write the “Biographical Memoir” for Sam Edwards – an account (~15 pages) covering his life, personal, professional and academic. Of course the 3 spheres blend together.
I would be grateful for any recollections, observations and anecdotes you might have. I include in these also his industrial and governmental activities, and his influence on public policy. Especially valuable would be your assessment of his major intellectual contributions, discoveries and influences at the various phases of his long career. Indeed he founded, or was instrumental in, many fields.
Whether or not you are able to attend the meeting in September, please contact me. Notes, or the offer of notes in the future when you have time, or the chance to speak on the phone or in person, or suggestions of other people and sources – all would be very helpful. Perhaps you also have photographs?
