Cambridge University, Theory of Condensed Matter Group , Coordinator: Peter Littlewood Objectives: We are currently developing a Ginzburg-Landau approach to competing phases in manganites and multiferroic materials. We hope to develop the theory to the microscopics and understand the fermi surface of manganites shown above, taken from Chuang et al, Science 292, 1509: Fermi Surface from ARPES for La1.2Sr1.8Mn2O7 (double-layered). We collaborate closely with the research group of Neil Mathur in Cambridge Materials Science. Our recent work on a phenomenalogical theory of manganites is outlined on this page.
