Research Associate in Condensed Matter Physics

Applications are invited for an EPSRC funded post doctoral research
position in condensed matter theory, starting 1st October 2013. This post is
to work with Dr Claudio Castelnovo on "Emergence and out-of-equilibrium phenomena in frustrated magnets".
Possible research topics include out-of-equilibrium properties of spin ice materials and other pyrochlore oxides, quantum spin ice and quantum spin liquids, interplay of itinerant electrons and localised magnetic moments (e.g. iridate-inspired).
The candidate must have completed or be close to completing a doctoral training in physics. Desirable attributes include evidence of knowledge and proficiency in analytical and / or numerical techniques used in condensed matter physics; good IT, problem solving and communication skills; the ability to work within a team and to ability to manage own workload; previous research experience in the area of magnetic and / or strongly correlated systems.
