²There is one known case where the reciprocal-space ASR correction fails to give the correct behaviour. Two-dimensional planar or layered systems with weak inter-layer bonding such as graphene or graphite exhibit a quadratic behaviour of an acoustic mode near Γ. The reciprocal space scheme fails to reproduce the correct, quadratic behaviour and linearises the dispersion. The realspace method generates correct behaviour in these cases.
