This determines the metric within the density mixing scheme. A weighting factor is used when evaluating scalar products of densities:

$$f(q) = \frac{(q^2 + {\tt mix\_metric\_q}^2)}{q^2}$$

The default value of this parameter is -1, resulting in an appropriate value being set by the density mixing algorithm.
